MEMBER-BREEDER CODE OF ETHICS FORM

All breeders listed in the Texas Lacy Game Dog Association Breeders Directory who offers puppies for sale or adult dogs for sale to the public are currently being asked to agree to the following Code of Ethics and to be bound by its standard of behavior. All Breeders understand that by being a Certified Breeder, they agree to abide by the Texas Lacy Game Dog Association By-Laws and Breeder Code of Ethics and accept the Texas Lacy Game Dog Association as Executive Jurisdiction in the above.
Documented proof of failure to comply will result in removal from the Texas Lacy Game Dog Association Breeders Directory as directed by the Board of Directors of the Texas Lacy Game Dog Association.
I agree to:
  1. Abide by the Texas Lacy Game Dog Association By-laws and the Lacy Game Dog Registry Code of Ethics and the rules and regulations thereof.
  2. Keep accurate breeding records, registration papers, pedigrees, and log of working abilities demonstrated on all dogs.
  3.  Be honest in all aspects related to the sale of dogs and in no way misrepresent or mislead the public or potential buyer about the health, temperament, abilities, parentage, pedigrees, and/or registration status.
  4. Support and conduct only ethical trade practices, with all services, sales, or transfers mutually agreed upon by seller and purchaser.
  5. Maintaining a safe, clean, and sanitary facility for all stud dogs, gyps, adult dogs, and puppies for sale. I will insure to the best of my ability that all stud dogs, gyps, adult dogs, and puppies for sale are free from all external and internal parasites which are to include but not limited to fleas, ticks, and worms.
  6. All dogs shall be registered by the Lacy Game Dog Registry and both gyp and sire have Breeding Prospect Inspection Forms on file with the Registry as early as nine (9) months of age or older and shall not be intentionally bred until they are both at least fourteen (14) months of age, physically and mentally mature,
shall be in good health, and free from communicable diseases.
  7. Not intentionally breed any gyp past the age of nine (9) years nor allow her to whelp more than one litter within a twelve (12) month period and not allow sires to breed more than five (5) times within a twelve (12) month period. If a back-to-back litter occurs without consent of the Lacy Game Dog Registry, the gyp will rest two (2) full heat cycles before being bred again.
  8. All gyps will be bred with intentions of that particular breeding to maintain the breed and never for purely commercial reasons. A responsible breeder shall always breed to maintain the breed, breeding for health, temperament, structure, or intelligence. We believe that a combination of these qualities makes the perfect working dog and pet.
  9. Acting as an ethical breeder and I will provide verifiable pedigrees on each parent with the names of the owners and of the animals in the lineage. And before breeding occurs, I will have researched their genetic lines for any temperament or health problems and will only breed sound animals from sound genetic lines verified by the Lacy Game Dog Registry. There will be no line breeding, inbreeding, and there must not be any common linage within at least three (3) generations between the Sire and Gyp. I will not use the practice of cross breeding or hybrid breeding. In addition, I will confirm the pedigrees of the parents are both currently Lacy Game Dog Registry dogs and will complement each other.
  10. Not dual register or authorize dual registry of a Lacy Game Dog Registry Blue Lacy other than with the National Kennel Club (NKC). I will contact the Lacy Game Dog Registry with questions or concerns before breeding occurs.
  11. No puppies will be knowingly sold to medical research labs, franchised commercial facilities, puppy brokers, puppy mills, or agents thereof. I agree that no dog will be offered as a prize in any form of raffle, contest, or like activity, nor shall be offered for sale in a mail order catalog, and shall not be sold in litter-lot sales.
  12. No stud dog will be knowingly bred to any gyp whose owner is directly or indirectly involved with any medical research labs, puppy broker, puppy mill, litter-lot sales, or any commercial enterprise whose business is involved in like activities. That no stud service shall be offered as a prize in any form of raffle, contest, or like activity, nor shall be offered for sale in a mail order catalog.
  13. Behave as a responsible breeder and shall always take the time to learn the personalities of each individual puppy. We love all our pups and always wish permanent stable homes for them. If for some reason a home does not work out, a breeder is always willing to take any of our puppies back, without compensation, at the request of the owner, for the life of the dog or new home placement of the dog.
  14. Honestly evaluate the quality of all Lacy Game Dogs sold, transferred, or offered for stud service and fairly represent that evaluation.
  15. The prices of puppies shall be based on individual quality. Substandard or inferior quality animals shall be sold or transferred with written agreement to have the animal spayed or neutered and papers withheld pending alteration, and are registered only on a Lacy Game Dog Non-Breeding Quality Certificate.
  16. Give all puppies their first (1) series of puppy shots and worming before they leave my facility.
  17. Furnish accurate records to each buyer of all shots, worming, pedigrees, and Lacy Game Dog Registry transfer documents or necessary registration documents from country of birth, unless written agreement is made at the time of sale that states that the Lacy Game Dog Registry or other country’s registration papers be withheld for any reason.
  18. Keep all records related to the breeding and sale of all Lacy dogs readily available for inspection by the Registrar of the Lacy Game Dog Registry or any designated representative.
  19. Conduct myself at all times in such a manner as a credit to the Texas Lacy Game Dog Association, Lacy Game Dog Registry, and the Blue Lacy breed.
  20. Not ship puppies prior to eight (8) weeks of age or be taken from my facility until seven (7) weeks of age.
  21. Always be willing to give advice to any new owners. We are here to help answer anyone’s questions about their dog or help in any way we can, whether or not their dog was purchased from us.
All violations or complaints shall be evaluated by the Texas Lacy Game Dog Association Board of Directors.
Amendments to these Code of Ethics maybe changed by the Board of Directors of the Texas Lacy Game Dog Association without prior notice to the Member-Breeder.
Please submit a 2nd form if you have additional sires or gyps to add.
