This past meeting the Officers and BOD voted to offer three scholarships in the amounts of $1000.00, $500.00, and $250.00 again this year. Entries for the scholarships will run through February 8, 2026. The requirement for the scholarship is a minimum two-page essay on “Hunting Conservation” or “What you do with your Lacy dog” and written in MLA format. You must be a member of the Texas Lacy Game Dog Association or be sponsored by a current member and must be enrolled in a college or trade school for the Spring semester 2026. The scholarship will be paid to the school for distribution. All essays should be sent to lacydogscholarship@gmail.com. You cannot win the scholarship two years consecutively. IF, for some reason the recipient is enrolled in a Spring trade course, the money will be held until the recipient is accepted and enrolls in the school. The school distributes the funds for enrollment and attendance verification, but the funds can be used for anything school related. In other words, the money is not tied to classes, books, etc.
I failed to post the opening this past Summer and it got too late to offer it, so we are rolling it to the Spring semester. This is completely my fault. Even though we are getting a late start on the contest, the money will be sent for use this semester.
I include this every year, and I hate to be repetitive, but this needs repeating. The number of, and amounts given, are subject to change annually. We were able to do more this year through the very hard work of volunteers putting on our events, careful budgeting, and very generous bidding and donations on the part of the attendees at our events.
As always, thank you for your continued support of the Lacy Breed and The Texas Lacy Game Dog Association.
Sincerely,
Todd Porter – President
